Transcript of Day5: To stop the train and stop population increases, UT’s prescription is 1CC, One Child Certificates. In every country that adopts a 1CC policy, every boy and girl, man and woman, who has not had a child, will be given a 1CC. Each certificate entitles that person to have one child; a couple with two certificates could have two children because certificates are passed on to the children. A governmental agency would maintain records on all 1CCs.
After every 1CC is assigned, people can purchase or be given additional 1CCs in order to have larger families. People without certificates who have additional children would actually be taking their baby’s 1CC, since there would not be a 1CC to pass on.
Those choosing not to have a child could sell their 1CC. In industrial nations like the USA, the set price for a 1CC might be $20,000*. For countries that adopt a 1CC policy, every boy and girl, man and woman who don’t already have children, would effectively get a gift of $20,000* with the benefit of stopping population increases. Many would call this a win-win.
We must recognize that our train is overcrowded and unless we do something about it, our train compartments will be packed so tightly that starvation, disease and death will surround us.
The future belongs to the young people of the world. They must show that they are capable of getting legislation passed to implement a 1CC policy, on a country by country basis, until the whole world adopts it. Adults who support a 1CC policy can assist. but elders who oppose it should let the youth decide.
Tomorrow is the third P. [*the set value of a 1CC might be based on the price of a new car or scooter, in each country] http://middleway2012.com, http://middleway2012.wordpress.com
To reduce errors and make mistakes easily reversible, individuals who sell their 1CC will receive monthly payments over 10-20 years. This will eliminate rash decisions and make changes of mind easier to payback.
Many might focus on any negative aspects of a 1CC policy, without considering all of the positive features. One positive would be that every child would grow up thinking about being a parent, since a 1CC means that is a future possibility to be taken seriously, since they only have 1CC.
